Rihanna Inspired Dress

My first blog post!!! I’m screaming right now. It feels absolutely great to express my self through fashion and who better to get inspiration from than RiRi (Rihanna) herself. Living in a time when we have a style icon like Rihanna? Wow! I mean, what a time to be alive. I could stay here and gush on and on about how she re-defines fashion, how she is a trendsetter and the list goes on (I’m sure you can tell I’m obsessed with her. Rihanna = goals).

The other day I was on Instagram and then I saw this pictureย of Rihanna wearing, (no not just wearing), rocking this Blue ball gown by Molly Goddard and I stared at the picture for minutes (I do that whenever the picture is bomb). The gown was divine (of course, its not fashionable until Rihanna wears it) and at that instant I actually pictured myself in an outfit like that. I imagined being in all those ruffles, with a material so flowy it would make me feel free and playful. I just knew I had to have it (and every other clothes she has).

Fashionista or not, there’s always that thing called a budget nagging at the back of our mind. Your mind says yes, your shopping cart keeps calling, your closet doors are wide open and waiting but good ol’ budget says NO!!! So I did some research, a ton of research, and learned the basics on sewing ruffle pieces. I almost gave up because most of the tutorials I found didn’t really cover a whole lot, but then like a ย typical boss babe I pushed through and, trust me, it was worth it.

The dress felt so fun and free, I felt like a million dollars and that’s the main point of Fashion. To have fun and love how you feel about yourself in any outfit. It was just amazing. In the spirit of Halloween, I paired the dress with a Sugar Skull makeup because it’s all about that touch of extra to add a little Oomph to your outfit and what’s more extra than walking around with a sugar skull makeup on your face in broad daylight. To crown the look up (literally), I wore a flower headpiece inspired by Michael Costello RTW Spring 2017ย and I was bare-footed for this look (lol). Oh the things we do for fashion……
